A boiler servicing is necessary on a regular basis as even when a boiler or gas appliance appears to be working well, there could be hidden faults that will be revealed by a service. A wide variety of things go wrong with gas installations and regulations exist to make sure installations are safe. Proper servicing, in summary, makes sure your boiler installation is safe.

We offer full boiler servicing whereby we follow the procedures listed below as well as any and all additional procedures issued by the manufacturer of your boiler to make sure that it is safe and operating correctly. We regularly work with Ideal boiler systems, Baxi boilers, Vaillant boilers and indeed all old and new boiler systems. Regular boiler services can prevent the need for future central heating repairs.

Preliminary examination.

  • Check with customer whether there are any problems with the system.
  • Check the appliance location is suitable for the type of appliance.
  • Check the appliance for any damage before starting work on it.
  • Check operation of appliances, including controls the safety devices.
  • Check the flame for correct burning.
  • Check that electrical wiring is compliant with electrical standards.
  • Check for correct clearances from combustible materials.
  • Examine gas supply pipe work for correct installation & clearances.
  • Check for correct ventilation to the room containing the appliance.

Our full service includes.

  • Remove main burners, clean & inspect for damage.
  • Clean & inspect gas injectors.
  • Dismantle & clean pilot assembly & gas injector.
  • Reassemble burners & pilot assembly.
  • Check condition of ignition leads & electrode.
  • Clean the heat exchanger.
  • Refit burner assemblies & check seals.
  • Test disturbed gas joints for leaks.
  • Check appliance case & seals for damage & correct assembly.
  • Check & adjust pilot flame.
  • Check operation of thermocouple.
  • Measure gas pressure & flow rate, & adjust if necessary.
  • Inspect test flue for faults correct operation.
  • Inspect flue terminal for correct location & protection.
  • Check system bypass valve is adjusted correctly.
  • Check sealed system is at correct pressure.
  • Advise user to have the system checked at least every twelve months or as specified by manufacturer.
  • Advise user of any defects found in writing.
  • Apply the Industry Unsafe Situations Procedure if necessary.

A boiler service takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes to complete. We also offer gas fire servicing which, although appearing to be a more simple appliance, usually takes around the same amount of time because the flue/chimney system needs especially thorough checking. We are especially experienced with Ideal boiler systems, Baxi boilers and Vaillant boilers.
